Liverpool 1-0 Everton

Liverpool have moved five points clear of Everton in the race for 4th place after a 1-0 win in the 207th Merseyside derby. Fernando Torres scored his 28th goal of the season in the game. Liverpool used a 4-2-3-1 formation with Torres as a lone striker with Gerrard behind him. Pepe Reina's clean sheet here means he has now kept 52 clean sheets in his first 100 games for Liverpool setting a new club record.

It wasn't long before the Reds scored, too. It took just 7 minutes. That's how long it took Torres to get Liverpool's 100th goal of the season, the first english club to score 100 goals. The goal came after Xabi Alonso got the ball from Yakubu on the edge of the visitors' box before Dirk Kuyt touch the ball to pass it to Torres. Torres has now scored in six consecutive home games, a club record he shares with Fred Pagnam (1919), Roger Hunt (1964), Ian Rush (1983) and Michael Owen (1999). The second goal very nearly did came six minutes before the break when Gerrard, smashed a 25-yard volley against the post. Man of The Match Sami Hypia

Liverpool 0-3 Manchester United

I hate it. This is not going to be the year again. Rafael Benitez will have to wait for another time for his first league win against Man U. The match was really spoiled the moment Javier Mascherano got sent off, and that for continually pestering the referee. Before the game Liverpool had a lot of confidence after 7 wins on the trot. Wes Brown scored the opening goal and late strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.

On This Day April 4th Liverpool won against Manchester United at a clash at Anfield back in 1988.
Goals from Peter Beardsley, Gary Gillespie and Steve McMahon gave Kenny Dalglish's men a 3-1 advantage and when the Red Devils were reduced to 10-men, it looked like Liverpool would win this United made a comeback to make the scoreline a 3-3 draw.

Also on this day in Liverpool FC history Bill Shankly celebrated his 100th win as he won against Manchester United in 1964. Ian Callaghan and Alf Arrowsmith (2) got the goals in a 3-0 win.

On this day April 3 1996 Liverpool almost destroyed Newcastle's title hopes with a 4-3 win in the greatest Premier league game ever.

Liverpool had the perfect start when Robbie Fowler scored a header from Stan Collymore's cross. Newcastle soon took the lead with goals from Les Ferdinand and David Ginola. Robbie Fowler scored his second of the match to equalise for Liverpool and making it 22 goals in his last 21 matches before Tino Asprilla put Kevin Keegan's men back in front. It was non stop action then Collymore made it 3-3 before smashing in a last minute goal at the Kop end to make 4-3.

Javier Mascherano scored his first Liverpool goal as the Reds came from behind to make it seven wins in a row with a 2-1 victory over Reading. Fernando Torres scored his 20th league goal in the game making him the first Liverpool player since Robbie Fowler in 1995-1996 to score 20 league goals in 1 season. The win over Reading means Liverpool now have 59 points the most Liverpool had after 30 league games.

The Referee gave Reading a free kick in the 5th minute but the free kick should have never been given but the referee thought Arbeloa's tackle on the left was a free kick. The free kick was just a pass to Matejovsky but he scored a brilliant shot into the top corner. Liverpool then creating chances the first one was when the Xabi Alonso's shot hit the top of the bar with a great hit from 20 yards. The equalising goal arrived on 19 minutes from the unlikeliest of sources. Mascherano, without a goal in 43 appearances, after getting passed Steven Hunt he scored a dynamite strike at the Kop end. Ryan Babel then scored a goal with a near-post header but it was offside. The best opportunity for the Reds to take the lead before half-time was Dirk Kuyt's volley that went over from the penalty spot. After 3 minutes of half time Fernando Torres who scored his first hat trick for Liverpool against Reading, jumped high above Kevin Doyle to head Gerrard's well-placed free-kick. Over the closing minutes of the game Reading got frustrated Andre Bikey received a yellow card for hitting Steven Gerrard and they got even more frutrated when Gerrard blocked a Dave Kitson hit with his arm in the penalty box but there was no way Gerrard could move his arm when blocking a shot. In the last seconds of the game Xabi Alonso hit a 75-yard shot. A third goal from his own half in less then three years? Sadly no it just went inches wide. Man of The Match Javier Mascherano

Dalglish and Fairclough (46 goals in 1977-78)

Dalglish and Johnson (50 goals in 1979-80)

Rush and Dalglish (59 goals in 1983-84)

Wark and Rush (53 goals in 1984-85)

Aldridge and Beardsley (47 goals in 1987-88)

Barnes and Rush (54 goals in 1989-90)

Fowler and Rush (50 goals in 1994-95)

Fowler and Collymore (55 goals in 1995-96)

Owen and Fowler (41 goals in 1997-98)

Owen and Heskey (46 goals in 2000-01)

Liverpool travel to San Siro to face Italian champions Inter Milan while defending a 2-0 lead on aggregate. Matterazi won't be playing because he received a red card at Anfield.

It was a very nervy start for Rafael Benitez's men. The opening 10 minutes of the clash belonged to Inter and the first chance of the match arrived on five minutes when Zlatan Ibrahimovic crossed from the left for Esteban Cambiasso, but the Argentinean's near post effort was well blocked by Lucas Leiva. Two minutes later Pepe Reina had to get to save Julio Cruz's strike from 25-yards. The only shot the visitors had in the opening 20 minutes was when Dirk Kuyt's low ball in from the right found Torres just inside the area. On 51 minutes Nicolas Burdisso was sent off for a second bookable offence, following a late tackle on Lucas. Liverpool didn't make use of having 1 extra man, Inter Milan kept attacking and they came close when Zlatan Ibrahimovic's shot was wide. Little by little Liverpool started to control. On the 64th minute Fernando Torres scored a brilliant right-footed volley from Fabio Aurelio's low cross. It was game over for Inter Milan and for the first time in the Champions League all 4 English sides are through to the quater finals, and it's also the first time that only 1 Italian side are in the quater finals. Torres now scored 26 goals in his debut season in England.

Liverpool has won 4 games in a row can they make it 5 games and Fernando Torres won the player of the month award for February. Anfield legend Kevin Keegan is still looking for his first win as his return of manager of Newcastle. Torres was 8-1 to score a 3rd succesive home hat-trick.
The first goal wast at the 43rd minute and what a bizzare goal it was. It came when Enrique went to clear a pass from Torres, but instead of going into the stands the ball hit Pennant and went into the back of the net. Before Newcastle can talk in the changing room Torres made it two after pass from Gerrard. Torres picked the ball up on the half-way line on 51 minutes before passing it to Gerrard who shot it pass Harper. The Magpie's did at least had one good shot Obafemi Martins' unbelievable chest and volley which hit the bar from 45 yards. It's now 25 for Torres this season, just three fewer than Michael Owen's best tally and its Liverpool's 300th Premier League win. Man of The Match Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool are in great form they won 3 games in a row but can they make it 4 games. West Ham just lost 4-0 againts chelsea but they won 1-0 againts the Reds at home.

Liverpool started the game great. Torres had a chance with a header by Dirk Kuyt but it hit the post but, he made no mistake the second time at the 8th minute with a low ball from Kuyt he side-footed it past Robert Green easily. On 11 minutes the visitors broke through by Luis Boa Morte, the Portuguese rounding Pepe Reina before a great last-ditch interception from Arbeloa. Finally, after alot of chances on the 56th, it was 2-0. The Hammers defence failed to deal with an Alonso corner and when the ball was at Kuyt, who crossed to the Fernando Torres who headed it passed Robert Green. It was game over for West Ham and the question is can El Nino be the first Liverpool striker since Jack Balmer in 1946 to score hat tricks in succesive home games. Torres finished his hat-trick on 81 minutes, sliding the ball into the bottom corner. Gerrard scored a great goal into the top corner from a 25-yard curler. Man of the Match Fernado Torres.

Liverpool travels to the Reebok stadium still without an away win since boxing day but they are in great form. Rafa Benitez hasn't had much succes in the Reebok stadium and last season they lost 2-0 here.

Liverpool made a dreadful start but they responded with a quick attack. It was an own goal by Bolton keeper Jussi Jaskelainen which gave Liverpool the lead, Gerrard was the one who shot the ball but, it was going wide until Jaskelainen decided to save then turned to see the ball spin into his own net. The Reds grew in confidence after that goal. Ryan Babel after a number of chances finally scored the 2nd goal for Liverpool in the 60th minute. In the 75th minute Fabio Aurelio chested the ball down and volleyed the ball with his left foot into the top corner. Bolton grabbed a late consolation goal through substitute Tamir Cohen. This defeat for Bolton here will leave them in relegation trouble. The win for the Reds will hopefully increase their confidence for finishing in 4th place. Man of the match Ryan Babel

Who do you think will win the premier league ? Arsenal, Manchester United or Chelsea.

I think Arsenal will win the premier league title their ahead of Manchester United by 1 point which isn't much but I still think they can win the title. Manchester United have a chance of winning the title they're in good form they have 1 of the greatest players in the world in their team. I think Chelsea are out of the title race they are 7 points behind Arsenal and what are the chances of Arsenal and Manchester United to lose 3 games in the last 10 games, 0/10.

Who do you think is the best striker in England? The Spanish golden boy Fernando Torres, the Togolese arsenal footballer Emmanuel Adebayor, the Cote d'Ivoire Didier Drogba, the English Wayne Rooney or the moody Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov.

The best striker in England is Emmanuel Adebayor even though he hasn't won anything but he was a runner-up in the league cup and champions league. The 2nd best is Fernando Torres he has alot of pace, he can get past defenders easily and score goals. The 3rd is Didier Drogba he is great at scoring free kicks and at the 2007-2008 season he scored over 30 goals. The 4th is Dimitar Berbatov people accuse him of being moody but he is great at football. The 5th is of course Wayne Rooney I think he's seen better years.
